Call for Makers

Maker Faire showcases the amazing work of all kinds of makers of any age — anyone who embraces the do-it-yourself (or do-it-together) spirit and wants to share their accomplishments with an appreciative audience.

A Maker is an enthusiast of DIY/DIT(do it together) with a great attitude towards sharing knowledge and information, who builds stuff they either need or find it fun to create (rather than consume) and learn from that experience.

They use a variety of tools and techniques, analog or digital, traditional or cutting edge, leveraging the web as a key channel for sharing their knowledge and experiences.

If you think you're a Maker and you have a project or activity you'd like to show at Maker Faire Lisbon 2014, then fill this form and submit your application as soon as possible. And spread the word to your Maker friends, we want them to know about us — and, of course, us about them.

To better understand what makes a project eligible, these are important bullets that define the Maker culture and for which you should show evidences in your project.

  1. It must be creative and have an unique (innovative) feature, for instance a new technique or a construction / fabrication process, recycle or remix several materials or components, or have a distinctive purpose, even if it's to entertain.
  2. The candidate doesn't necessarily need to use technology, electricity or electronics directly, but it has to share its experiences and knowledge, preferably using the Web platform. In other words, it must show the sense of community and openness (open-source, open-hardware, creative commons, etc.).

The Call for Makers will be open until the end of July, at which point the organization team and the curators will look into all the applications and get in touch with you again.

Application form

The Maker Faire Lisbon team would like to know more about what your project or activity is and have a small description of what you will actually be bringing to Maker Faire (materials/equipment/other things). This information will not be made public. Be as descriptive as possible.

Hands-on activities are conducted in the exhibit area.

We have some restrictions regarding commercial activities at the event, so we need to know in advance if you're planning to sell anything there.

To help people find your exhibit on our website and at Maker Faire Lisbon, please select a maximum of 5 topics that apply to your project/activity:

Where was your project mainly developed?

Post links here with any online material that would be useful for us to evaluate your proposal, including social media presences.

Are there other organizations or makers you recommend we contact about taking part in Maker Faire Lisbon?
