David Lobato brings us a built from scratch Nixie clock to put some old school glow in the Faire.
Nixies are old school displays using glow discharge in neon tubes to emit light. The Nixie clock has been implemented from scratch and it uses standard high voltage drivers plus an arduino nano as the main controller. Additionally, to show how the nixies work David intends to build a couple of test boards to show the basics behind this kind of displays, namely the high voltage power supply and the multiplexing technique.
David Lobato is originally from Spain but lives in Faro, Portugal since 2011. He studied computer sciences, is a tinkerer and a maker and a member of the eLab Hackerspace.
