Back at the faire - First LEGO League

Posted on 05 Aug 2015

FLL

We are pleased to announce that First LEGO League (FLL) will be back at the Maker Faire Lisbon this year - it is an amazing programme for 9 to 16 year old children, designed to get them excited about science and technology and teach valuable employment and life skills.

The FLL Core Values are the fundamental elements that distinguish FLL from other programs of its kind. Participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

As a “Sport for the Mind”, the FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers, and this years’ theme is the TRASH TREK (SM) Challenge.

Following the motto “We’re not talking trash – we’re cleaning it up!”, this year more than 233.000 children from over 80 countries will explore the fascinating world… of trash.

From collection, through sorting, to smart production and reuse, there is always more to your trash than meets the eye, and FLL teams will choose and solve a real-world trash problem during the challenge.

Like last year, there will also be hands-on robotics activities at the Faire (using Mindstorm kits) for people of all ages, so that they can learn how to build and program robots in a very relaxed environment.
