Last year, the first Lisbon Mini Maker Faire showcased projects from around a hundred Portuguese Makers and welcomed almost 10.000 visitors in a little over two days. At the time, our most optimistic forecasts pointed to 70 Makers and 3.000 visitors - we could not be farther from the truth.
The results we attained are living proof that the Maker revolution runs deep, garners wide interest and is relevant to our society, as well as having unquestionable economic potential. They also show that people of all ages and walks of life are supportive, inquisitive and actively interested in taking an active role.
So as we had previously announced at the end of last year’s Fair, SAPO, CML and Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Ciência Viva are proud to announce that the countdown for Maker Faire Lisbon 2015 has begun - and that it will be hosted at the same venue during the 18th, 19th and 20th of September.
As promised, the event drops the “Mini” label (it never fit, anyway) and goes on to become one of the few and prestigious Featured Faires (larger-scale faires produced in collaboration with Maker Faire) in Europe, together with Rome, Berlim and Newcastle.
This blog is gathering steam, so stay sharp - we intend to announce a new “Call for Makers” very soon.
This is also a great opportunity for you to help us spread the word and raise awareness of the event through word of mouth, social media, etc., with the goal of bringing together even more Makers, more projects and a bigger audience. Our community thanks you!
See you later!
